Southern Cross Healthcare is the largest provider of care homes for the elderly in the UK, and a major provider of specialist services for people with physical and/or learning disabilities, operating 727 care homes with 37,000 beds at 18 March 2008.

Following the listing of the Company's shares on the London Stock Exchange in July 2006, the Company entered the FTSE 250 index in September 2006.
